During the process of finding the perfect cover for this story, I commissioned an illustrator to draw my characters. Although the illustrations didn’t get used for the cover in the end, I knew I wanted to share these beautiful drawings with my readers.

Initially, to keep the illustration aligned with the opening observatory scene, I requested that Emilie be in her PJs (I drew the line at her slippers, though!) Although this was fun, the PJs didn’t make the final cut.

The final version. In the end, I decided I wanted a more glamorous look for Emilie, and I loved the idea of including her moon and star hairpins.
